I’m talking about shorting puts and calls, not buying a put. I’m opening a margin account at one broker and I will ask them, but if they tell me No, do some brokers allow this practice?
Yes, I know shorting them is risky, but I have a plan.
Ok I live in NJ, I’m 19 and opened an online broker account in november 07. I’ve been studying the markets since I was 16 so I know how to trade. Opened my account with $900 in it, my first trade I bought 800,000 shares of IVOT (penny stock) at around 0.0015 a share and sold a few weeks later for around 0.0033…So I made $1,100 profit but I have a few questions:
1) I’n NJ aproximately what percent of that would I have to pay tax??
2)Since I’m ninteen (and was eighteen in beginning of 07) am i legally allowed to file as an independent??
3)Can I use the free turbotax e-filing for this??
Does anyone have any sort of strategy that can dictate if a stock should be sold short versus a put option purchase?
Both have its upsides and downsides, but when I feel a price drop is inevitable I am always unsure which option (no pun intended) would produce the greatest profit. What is your thinking behind this?
I have traded long for quite some time but am now looking to do more short-term trading and am trying to define my buy (and sell) strategy/criteria. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I am in the US and trade mostly US stocks.
I read that there was a new policy that didn’t let you do any short trading in the stock market if you have any sort of stocks in banking companies. I bought 900 shares of e-trade stock on September 17th and this new rule applied September 19th through October 2nd. Since I bought my stock before the rule applied, am I allowed to sell?
We all know there are bounces in price stock, volatility. So what/how do you look for short termers for investment potential?
and some possible day trades. I need one with trailing stop/loss capabilities. Also, I’m trying to figure out if I need stock trading software? I have the specific parameters (Tech A.) mostly, so what is a good software? does any of the online brokers offer a good “real-time” software as well as low trade commissions? Any advice , especially from active traders , is appreciated. thanks.
I normally invest for a few days and sell but I haven’t done so hot in the past. What are things to look for?
Is it wise to buy in a few days before an earnings report?
Can you make like 5k a month trading stocks with like ameritrade or something? (without day trading) Just regular trading.
