I’m a newbie and want to purchase stock options. Please advise…?

09 Sep

I am new to investing and I recently received something in the mail about buying stock options. The mailing sounded very convincing that if I were to invest in stock options the risk would be limited to my investment. I really could use some guidance in this area. I am thinking about starting off small; say around $250-$500 to begin. All responses are appreciated. Thanks

If you think a stock price goes down, is it better to buy a put option or sell a call option?

09 Sep

With what form do you make more money? I know that you earn the premium by selling the call option, but I have no clue what generally makes more money at the end of the day and how it works in reality.

what do u think about my strategy. Look for stocks that are oversold, stockastic is also below the lone and the RSI is also below the line. i think i should buy when it hit the support level and i see the all other indicator are about to cross each other.

i tried this once but i didnt look at the support and bought it before it hit the support. but i was lucky and the stock bounced back and ii made some money.

what is you strategy and also i buy it and keep it for a few days and than sell it. not for long term investment. thank u

08 Sep

I want to become a stock (or commodity) market trader / broker / other related career where you physically work on the trade floor. Is that a good choice now with most exchanges going electronic? What skills do you need? What qualification and certifications? Please advise an enterprising young fella as he seeks a career path.

Do you know whether consultants are ever compensated in stock or options from a client company?

08 Sep

Situation is a start-up company with venture capital but can’t (won’t) pay my quoted rate (I’m an independent consultant, business reengineering). They want me to come back with something much lower, maybe half.

I’m OK with that IF I can negotiate something in return (and not just lower my price without due consideration). They’ve hinted at future upside (for them, as a company), so I’m wondering if there is a way for me as a non-employee to get stock options if I lower my consulting fee.

I have no experience with non-cash compensation as a consultant. Anyone out there have some good information or ideas?
