Looking to “dabble” in Online-Trading until I gain my ” Comfort-Zone. ” Have about $25K in Mutual Funds that have lost money over the past 5 year period…Would really appreciate good advice from an experienced trader!

I am completely new to this, but I am interested in buying stocks online. Any suggestions on which website with the least fees and how do I start and how do i trade? Please help me! Can you explain what is real time trade? It looks like it costs more to sign up for real time trade. Aren’t all stocks in real time trade? I read something about OTC and I think that is what I need in order to trade penny stocks. so again, please help!
First of all, I have absolutely no experience buying or selling stocks. Right now, I only have experience with bank CDs (Certificate of Deposits). I have recently gained interest in buying into the S&P 500, but I do not know how to actually do it. I prefer to do banking and financial business online, so I was wondering if there was any online buy / trade service that I could buy S&P 500 stocks, or other stocks like Apple, and watch the accounts grow.. And are there buy / sell fees? Could I cash out and buy any time I want? Once again, I’m completely new to this, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’m interested in researching some potential day trading stocks. I’d like to focus on stocks trading under $10 with high volume (between 15 million to mid 20 million.) Any suggestions?
I’m new to trading stocks, I have been “mock trading” online at this website where everything is real…except the money of course =). I have been meeting all of my goals so far. I’m too afriad to trade multiple times a day, it’s too risky for me…with the whole 15 minute delay after you put an order out to buy or sell…alot can happen in 15 mintutes. So what I’ve done is, I took $10,000 (pretend money) divided it into 4 stocks so $2500…and I usually might buy all 4 Monday…and my goal is to get rid of them (sell them) by friday..so that gives me 5 days…and all I want is a 3% profit. I’m not going to risk it at 5,6,7,8 percent. So I have been meeting all of my goals and I am making atleast a $300 profit a week. Does anyone else use a method similar to this? They always say new people lose all their money, but you don’t lose anything until you give it away (sell it) or the company goes bankrupt. If I didn’t meet my one week goal I could and would wait for that 1/4 of my money…even if it took 3,6,12 months to go back up. Any comments/adive/imput? Thanks =) I also plan to keep dividing my money the more my profit grows so I have eggs in all kind of baskets =)

I recently saw an infomercial about Better Trades and it actually got me interested. Even signed up for the seminar that is going to be held in my state in 3 days. However, looking further online, I checked with the BBB and Complaints board and saw several complaints about them, mainly saying you get a free gift to help worth about $290 but everyone says in the end, you have to pay about $8,000 to join and that’s defiantly not something Im wanting (or even able to) do.
However, this got me thinking about stocks and its something Id like to get into but I don’t know where I could go to start and/or even possibly get some 1 on 1 help with getting started.
On top of that, how much money minimum is needed to get started?
I have about 100 to invest at start, as for penny stocks I have heard of those, but not knowing websites that are trusted or even how to get into those doesnt help my situation.
It seems that the stocks in your long term portfolios would be the ones that you have the most confidence in their fundamentals and so on, but also increases your vulnerability and mindset. For example, if I spot a short term death sentence in stock trends for a stock I still have confidence in long term, I could be shorting a stock that I also own! On the other hand, if I follow my instincts, I will constantly buy and sell those stocks in my long term portfolio, and end up turning it into a second trading portfolio, which isn’t good for anyone. What is your system here?
