What purpose do stockholders, stock brokers, and bond traders serve? Also CEOs Etc.?

09 Sep

If we eliminated these Leeches, could industrys and business raise wages for the working poor? Would the savings acheived by eliminating these parasites make our American businesses and industries more competitive on the International Market?

What do commodities traders know today? Why is nickel and OJ up this morning?

09 Sep

http://finance.yahoo.com/marketupdate?u

All commodities, excluding nickel and orange juice, are trading lower in the Reuters/Jefferies CRB Commodity Index this morning.

Why is everything EXCEPT those twoitems down?

Are the greedy Madoff types worried that they’ll be spending only nickels and drinking OJ from now on, now that the Democrat agenda is dead in the water?

Stock Traders: The Fed and Dec 11?

07 Sep

What do you think? Has the street bought the rumor and will sell the news? At the moment the market is flat, is it waiting for Tues?

I think if the Fed cut is 25 basis points we may see a sell off, with a 50 basis point anything goes, but I do not anticipate 50 points.
LOL I am no one and my opinion doesn’t really matter, that is why I asked the question. I wanted other opinions. I day trade stocks (pattern trader) for a living.

It is obvious you did not understand the question.

Stock traders: Can you trade the news announcements?

06 Sep

It seems to me that if a company, such as a pharmaceutical, is about to make an announcement of product testing results, extreme volatility is in the winds. This would probably not work with quarterly earnings though, since that information often leaks. So, for certain announcements, can profits be made by issuing short sell orders if the stock falls to say 0.5% below its price, and buying orders if it rises to 0.5% above its price. These orders would be placed immediately before the announcement, then exited either before the day’s close or held onto for a day or so. Problem is: I am only paper trading right now, which of course cannot simulate real time market buying and selling conditions. Despite this, 0.5% will likely beat the rush. Is this possible?

04 Sep

I have some friends in finacial planing and ehy have to chase people around for their money to invest with them. Do commodities traders do the same thing? do they chase people around to park their money with them and they trade on their behalf? How do they make money? I am quite new to this area but I have heard you can make a lot of money and also lose a lot of money. Do you have to study finance to go into that path or any degree will do as long as you know the right people? Can somebody alsogive me a webste where i can read some examples of how trading in comodities work? I am also looking for somebody to reccomend me a book on the subject.

Are stock traders the real reason for the recession?

03 Sep

They make mistakes and the market spirals, they buy then sell out of fear. Their animal instincts control the wealth and they are all trying to pull scams to get rich.

Why not make it to where selling stock takes 10 days to go through (selling them in small incriments over the 10 days at that days stock price) and buying stocks goes through at normal speed.

Would you agree that that would be like a speed bump to wake them up before driving the car off the cliff again? (like the etched pavement on the side of highways that rattle when you drive on it)

Active stock traders: Do you trade stocks that are in your long term portfolio?

01 Sep

It seems that the stocks in your long term portfolios would be the ones that you have the most confidence in their fundamentals and so on, but also increases your vulnerability and mindset. For example, if I spot a short term death sentence in stock trends for a stock I still have confidence in long term, I could be shorting a stock that I also own! On the other hand, if I follow my instincts, I will constantly buy and sell those stocks in my long term portfolio, and end up turning it into a second trading portfolio, which isn’t good for anyone. What is your system here?

Poor-friendly stock traders?

26 Aug

I am currently in college, and wanted to get some money into the stock market. Granted, we are not talking alot of money. 50 a month or something, just some to slowly get me started. Is there any way I can actually do this without paying huge dues to the broker? Any particular websites that are friendly to those in my situation? I looked at E-trade, but they are somewhat expensive it seems. Or am i just out of luck until i have more disposable income?

ACTIVE TRADERS: What criteria do you look at when evaluating a stock for a short- term trade (1-5 days)?

I have traded long for quite some time but am now looking to do more short-term trading and am trying to define my buy (and sell) strategy/criteria. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I am in the US and trade mostly US stocks.
